Walt Amey, H. Kates and I formed Desperado in Ithaca, NY circa 1975. We payed every club in Ithaca as often as we could, which meant all the time. Actually did a twelve-hour show at the Glenwood Pines for kicks. We did the local college circuit, opened for Orleans, Outlaws, Country Cooking, Aztec Two Step, Livingston Taylor, Commander Cody, Pure Prairie League, among others.
After H. Kates left, we asked Doug Robinson and Carol Lee to join us. The result was our first album, "Desperado."
"Wooden Ships," the Classic CSN&Y tune of the decade, from "Desperado" album. "Banjo Picker", "Hold on I'm Comin", "Take My Hand", "Whiskey Song", "Sweet Dreams" from the same. Album was recorded at CALF Audio, Newfield, NY, where I was a sometime studio bass player.
The above pic is from Pure Prairie show at Ithaca College spring, 1977. I'm playing banjo. PPL's tunes from that show are on their "Live!: Takng the Stage" album.
THAT...was just too much fun.
